猫咪社区 has been awarded a one-year Capacity-Building Grant of $50,000 by Wake Forest University鈥檚 Educating Character Initiative, thanks to Lilly Endowment Inc. 鈥淲e truly believe in character education at 猫咪社区,鈥 said Provost Timothy S. Huebner. 鈥淎 century ago, President Charles Diehl described the college as an institution 鈥榲itally concerned with scholarship, but . . . even more concerned with character.鈥 The work that our faculty will do in the next year has the potential to transform the first-year experience at 猫咪社区.鈥

Dr. Carole Blankenship, soprano and professor and chair of music at 猫咪社区, has been a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing for 30 years and has served the organization in many roles, including as president. The organization has now launched a fundraising initiative to commemorate its rich history and to name one of three prizes in the classical category of its National Student Auditions in honor of Blankenship.

Dr. Earl Wright II, the Neville Frierson Bryan Chair of Sociology at 猫咪社区, has authored a new book, along with Dr. Kalasia S. Ojeh of Kean University, titled An Introduction to W. E. B. Du Bois (Routledge, 2024). Also, Wright will be featured in Fifty Key Scholars in Black Social Thought, to be published in October by Routledge.
